Circular Design

We started designing for circularity with monomaterials—products made of a singular raw material with removable zippers and trims—which can more easily re-enter the recycling or regeneration process at the end of their life.

We designed these products in anticipation of the coming advancements in apparel recycling technologies—and to help create a future where reuse and regeneration are the status quo. When post-consumer textile recycling becomes accessible on a global scale, our monomaterial products will be ready for the journey.

Responsible Down Standard

Marmot was an early adopter of humanely sourced down and worked with suppliers to improve practices before the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) was established in 2014. We remain committed to using only RDS-certified down, and only products with 100% certified down and feathers carry the RDS stamp of approval.

Recycled Synthetics

Synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon are typically petroleum-derived and may persist in the environment indefinitely as they break down. To reduce the risk of plastic-based textiles ending up in landfills, Marmot is transitioning to recycled synthetic fibers made from post-consumer waste and working to incorporate post-consumer textile-to-textile materials as part of our broader journey toward circularity.

Protecting and promoting the well-being of the people who make the products we sell is a core component of our business. Our social compliance and supply chain security requirements are outlined in our Vendor Code of Conduct.


Our Responsible Sourcing Manual ensures our Asia-based sourced finished goods and component suppliers fully understand our social compliance and supply chain security requirements and provides suppliers guidelines for use in their factories producing Newell Brands’ products.
