High-Performance Heritage

In 1976 our founders discovered a new fabric technology called GORE-TEX. They started designing expedition tents, down parkas, and sleeping bags with its waterproof, breathable membrane—and forever changed the outerwear game. Fast forward a few decades, the same promise remains: gear that’s Guaranteed to Keep You Dry™.

How It Works

Bonded between high-performance linings and shell textiles, a GORE-TEX membrane is made up of over nine billion pores per square inch. They’re 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet so rain can't get in, but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule so sweat can get out.

To Sum It Up

Marmot was one of GORE-TEX’s very first partners in 1976, and to this day, we’re not done innovating. Not by a long shot. From rain jackets to winter hats, ski gloves to windbreakers, our shared goal is to produce the most comfortable, protective, and reliable layers in your lineup. Because when you’re out there shredding, scaling mountains, and exploring the unexplored, you need outdoor gear you can count on. That’s also why—together—we push the limits of our outerwear’s performance before you push yours. Our rainwear, waterproof shell jackets, and more are put through the testing wringer (literally) to ensure they meet and exceed the expectations of every outdoor enthusiast.
