Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket... except This is an almost near perfect jacket for me. The build is right, not too boxy, but not too lean, arms are a solid length. It breathes wonderfully for a laminate, especially with the pit zips, is durable, waterproof and lasts a long time. I especially appreciate the stowaway hood and mesh pockets. However the hood is too small and doesn’t stay on in a strong wind. I live in Chicago and it generally rains sideways when it pours, add to the fact that it’s even windy on not rainy days. The two pulls are not enough to keep the hood in place, it needs at least an inch more of a brim and a halo synch in the back. If Marmot did this, I’d never buy another rain jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good jacket, sleeves tight I had a precip jacket for many years which I loved - it just wore out. I wore it in rain. I often wore it in milder winter temps as a shell, with a fleece underneath. The new one is the same size (mens medium), but the sleeves have been made a WHOLE lot slimmer/narrower/tighter for some reason. Which makes the body feel right, and the sleeves feel snug. I'm 5'6" / 150 lbs so the medium shouldn't feel this way on me. I think it might feel TOO tight with a fleece underneath come fall and winter. Maybe mine was just a bad cut but it's noticeable difference. The buyer should at least be aware of that. For rain and as single layer it'll be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, packable, roomy Lost my original precip jacket and considered upgrading to more expensive goretex jackets. Nothing could compare to the lightweight, comfortable fit of the precip. Has all the right features with just the right amount of simplicity. Flexible and roomy without being too boxy. Works great at a super low price point. I don't see any reason to ever switch. Stash pocket is also a nice feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved it 'til the liner fell apart at the shoulder Loved everything about it, just wish it'd have lasted. Only got a little over a year of infrequent use before the liner cracked and fell apart at the shoulders. Didn't use cheap hangers could potentially damage the liner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seeing Marmots with My Marmot This is the second Marmot jacket I have owned; I bought this new one because the first one wore out over a period of more than five years and was no longer viable after those years of good usage. The new jacket has been waterproof and warm, and it protected me during a recent long-distance backpacking trip to the Wind River Range in Wyoming, where I got dumped on during a storm in Titcomb Basin. My Marmot met the marmots on that trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great outdoors jacket for fishing (warm & cool WX) I have had a couple of the PreCip jackets over the past 10 years or so. I really like this jacket for activities like fishing in inclement, rainy weather. It is very light and highly waterproof. You can comfortably use it in warm, muggy weather. It is quite breathable. I also like the fact that the hood zips up into the collar when not in use: so it doesn't just down your back. I wish all Marmot jackets had this feature. I first learned about this jacket while on a guided fishing trip in northern Minnesota in the Summer. I figured that if the professional guides used it, it had to be pretty good. Have bought a couple over the years and have not been disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality rain jacket I recently bought this as a rain jacket/wind breaker to take the dog on walks and wear around the city. I imagine I will wear it hiking as soon as I get the chance. I got the size small. I’m usually either small or medium, pretty slender build. My chest is about a 36. I was worried that it might be too small but the jacket fits very well. It’s about an inch shorter than a Columbia jacket I have (also size small) but is still long enough. I was worried about sleeves but they are a good length too (I usually wear a 34 in dress shirts). The zipper looks like it will be obstructed by the velcro but it’s designed well so it zips smoothly. Very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has Never Soaked Through! After being issued one of these at work I went ahead and bought one for myself. I love how light and flexible it is. It also has never let water through in my experience and does a good job breaking the wind. It's also very light and easy to roll up small so it can fit in a backpack. My one complaint is it's slightly baggy, unless you're planning on layering underneath I feel you could go down one size from normal. All-in-all though this is my favorite new rain jacket.
