Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect jacket... except This is an almost near perfect jacket for me. The build is right, not too boxy, but not too lean, arms are a solid length. It breathes wonderfully for a laminate, especially with the pit zips, is durable, waterproof and lasts a long time. I especially appreciate the stowaway hood and mesh pockets. However the hood is too small and doesn’t stay on in a strong wind. I live in Chicago and it generally rains sideways when it pours, add to the fact that it’s even windy on not rainy days. The two pulls are not enough to keep the hood in place, it needs at least an inch more of a brim and a halo synch in the back. If Marmot did this, I’d never buy another rain jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good jacket, sleeves tight I had a precip jacket for many years which I loved - it just wore out. I wore it in rain. I often wore it in milder winter temps as a shell, with a fleece underneath. The new one is the same size (mens medium), but the sleeves have been made a WHOLE lot slimmer/narrower/tighter for some reason. Which makes the body feel right, and the sleeves feel snug. I'm 5'6" / 150 lbs so the medium shouldn't feel this way on me. I think it might feel TOO tight with a fleece underneath come fall and winter. Maybe mine was just a bad cut but it's noticeable difference. The buyer should at least be aware of that. For rain and as single layer it'll be fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Fits nicely, breathes ok, works while it lasts, which isn't long enough. After just a couple seasons of infrequent, really VERY little use, the interior waterproofing began to wear away and flake off, leaving it less effective and leaving my other clothing with white flecks on it. If I had to calculate the value based on the number of uses before it started to fail, compared to the price paid, it probably cost somewhere between $5 and $10 per use. That is, at $100, I figure I used it somewhere between 10 and 20 times before I noticed it failing. That's a pretty poor value if you ask me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great outdoors jacket for fishing (warm & cool WX) I have had a couple of the PreCip jackets over the past 10 years or so. I really like this jacket for activities like fishing in inclement, rainy weather. It is very light and highly waterproof. You can comfortably use it in warm, muggy weather. It is quite breathable. I also like the fact that the hood zips up into the collar when not in use: so it doesn't just down your back. I wish all Marmot jackets had this feature. I first learned about this jacket while on a guided fishing trip in northern Minnesota in the Summer. I figured that if the professional guides used it, it had to be pretty good. Have bought a couple over the years and have not been disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect Very comfortable, very thin and lightweight, excellent coverage and waterproof capabilities. Underarm vents are great for breathability. The hood adjusts well in two directions, and rolls up into the collar if you prefer the use of a rain hat. The zipper pulls on the pockets and vents are really bad, small and metal only. They are hard to find and grab, especially if wet. I replaced them with aftermarket high-visibility u-shaped pulls, and it makes the jacket perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, packable, roomy Lost my original precip jacket and considered upgrading to more expensive goretex jackets. Nothing could compare to the lightweight, comfortable fit of the precip. Has all the right features with just the right amount of simplicity. Flexible and roomy without being too boxy. Works great at a super low price point. I don't see any reason to ever switch. Stash pocket is also a nice feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved it 'til the liner fell apart at the shoulder Loved everything about it, just wish it'd have lasted. Only got a little over a year of infrequent use before the liner cracked and fell apart at the shoulders. Didn't use cheap hangers could potentially damage the liner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket is a close friend On August 15, 2017, I had a high fall while mountain climbing. It was not an act of carelessness or unwillingness to observe good procedure. It really was an accident, but a high fall is still a problem. I couldn't carry anything after the injury, and at first I could barely walk. But I did walk, two full days and two full nights to get back. All I really had was my previous copy of this jacket. The experience was memorable. I find this jacket to be extremely worthwhile and of great utility for whatever I need. I am seldom without it.
