Warmer than Patagonia Sweater JacketI've used this jacket and the Patagonia Sweater Jacket at different times backpacking. To keep weight down in my pack, I just carry a heavy base layer to wear underneath my down jacket for when the temps start to dip into the low 40s and 30s.. This jacket has kept me warmer than the Patagonia one despite them both being 800 fill. Not sure if that's because of the exterior fabric or what, but I'm super happy with my purchase! Not looking for durability here, just weight and warmth. For fit, I'm a 36A. The medium and small both work, although would say that the small fits similarly to the model pictures. There's more bulk with the medium.

Comfortable and versatileThis coat is awesome for fall backpacking trips when I want to be nice and warm at camp, it is very lightweight and cozy. I'm using it as my regular winter coat and I'm happy with it for everyday wear as well. When I'm not doing something active it's comfortable down to mid single digits (°F) with a sweater and vest underneath, although I think once it gets down into the negatives I'll need to use a lot of layers. For Montana winters I do wish it was a tiny bit warmer but it'll work fine. The elastic at the cuffs is really nice to hold in heat and I like that the hood has enough room for a bulky hat to fit inside.

Serious JacketI bought this jacket looking for a light puffer jacket to wear on chilly weekender trips, but this is too much for what I was looking for! Really lovely jacket though. I thought the triangle baffles were interesting and inventive, and the silhouette was flattering, in addition to being an amazingly warm jacket--just overkill for what I wanted! I thought the sizing was true to fit (5'8" slim without much of a bust, ordered a small). I tried on the xsmall too, but though the arms were a little too snug on me. Length was great, colors too. Bought at 50% off during a sale, definitely worth the price.

Very cute and warm!I purchased this and the guides down hoody in a small to compare - since it’s hard to tell the difference in the picture. This one took the cake! It has a really nice fit without being overly “girly”. It is extremely light weight feeling while still being quite warm (I haven’t tested it in frigid temps yet, but I live in Colorado and had a similar marmot puffy for years that kept me very warm on cold days). The jacket isn’t very wind resistant though - you’ll likely need to cover it with a shell on windy days. The guides down hoody felt heavier and had a boxy, unflattering fit. I’m 5’1” and 115 for reference.

Declining Marmot Quality with Poor FitWhen I ordered this I was so excited. I have 5 other down Marmot jackets and I love them all. I was looking for one over 700 loft, with a trimmer fit (I dont like roomy jackets). So this jacket seemed perfect, as it was 800 fill with an athletic fit per the site description. However I was greatly disappointed in the fit and quality when I finally received the jacket. The jacket, even though it was the same size XS as my 5 other down Marmots (Guides Hoody, Hailey, Williamsberg, Jena, Viansa, all regular fit) was so much bigger than them I thought I had been sent the wrong size. The cut is NOT athletic at all. The overall fit is large, and it is very boxy/roomy at the upper arms and upper torso, which is not flattering at all. Theres no lining (exposed seams, ewww) and the mesh inside pocket just looks cheap. The thin little elastic trim at the sleeve ends do not look like they will be durable. I added one star for the quality of insulation, it seemed noticeably warmer than my 700 fill jackets. So long story short, this jacket not worth the price, and I returned it ASAP.

DarnBeautiful coat. I ordered a Large, but fits just a little bigger than expected and should have ordered Medium (and still would have had plenty space with sweaters or other). Most of all I didnt read clearly enough and hoped this would be a very warm coat in the cold weather. Unfortunately it seems designed to be worn with another outer layer in the heavy cold weather. I thought with the down count, it would pretty much be the warmest coat I could find. This is actually rather thin.

hood problem for meI love the jacket itself; it's warm, puffy, and fits well. The problem is with the hood - the hood is really large, too large, and what makes the problem worse is that it's not easy to tighten it. It would be an easy and highly recommended design change for future versions of this coat. I had to return the jacket. I wanted a hood that would stay on and not blow off in the wind, so I couldn't keep this coat.
