(Nearly) exactly what I was looking forThis coat is (nearly) exactly what I was looking for. It is much warmer than the down-only coats that I was considering but still looks trim and stylish. Plus, the outer layer provides water and wind resistance. The hood sits a little low on my face, but there is space for a hat. Also, the pockets are a bit too far forward so that it's a bit awkward to insert my hands. In the end, the functionality and style of this coat so far outweighed all (all!) the others that I had tried. I've not only been getting compliments on the quality of the coat, I've gotten specific requests for ordering information. I hope they get it in another color so we don't all look alike!

Warm but small hood & color not as expectedI bought the urban army color which looks aqua in the picture. It's more like a sage/olive green IRL (see picture). I bought size XS based on the size chart (25" waist, 5'4"). It fits ok, but doesn't allow a lot of room for layering or a thick sweater or fleece. Also, the hood is too short and doesn't quite cover my head.
It does seem nice and warm and I'm sure it would keep me cozy. Length is nice - hits right above the knee. The zipper stops at my upper though, 9.5" above the bottom of the coat. Not sure how much difference that would make.
If I had found this on clearance or end of season, I might keep it, but I don't love the fit or color.

Tiny hoodThe hood is very very tiny and presses the top of my head. It also leaves your cheeks and forehead totally exposed because it is so "short". I live in Finland where we get everything from -20C to sleet to +5C and rain during winter. This hood would never cut it. Yes, it really is very bad.
Otherwise the jacket is brilliant. The sleeves are long enough and the fit is ok. (I'm 174cm tall and ordered a size M which fits perfectly at the shoulders and would work with or without a sweater underneath). The look&feel of the outer material is ok - not luxurious, but not cheap looking either.
So, a painfully badly designed hood ruins an otherwise good jacket.

Pleasantly surprisedI kept hearing so/so reviews, so here’s my two cents. The coat is surprisingly light which had me worried. ALL FOR NOTHING. It’s kept me warm on some of our most frigid winter days. I don’t find it noisy at all (other reviews mentioned this). It’s got a flattering fit, while allowing for layering. The one gripe I do agree on is the hood. It’s strangely small, and difficult to get over your head. If you zip the collar all the way up, it feels a little stiff around the neck and you won’t be able to wear a scarf underneath. Even with these little glitches, I’m really happy I bought it and satisfied it will follow me through many winters.

Warm, Fitted Shape, DisproportionateI bought this for the cold, windy, New England weather. Unfortunately, this jacket has arrived during a random warm spell (57 degrees out and sunny). I tried it on, regardless, and I love how fitted it is. I'm a small frame, weighing 125lbs and being 5 ft 7, I appreciate having something fitted. I ordered an XS for that reason. Only issue is that the sleeves are too short for my long arms and the hood is very tight (that's great for those who want the warmth) but it's uncomfortable for me. I get headaches with tight headwear and sunglasses. I love the material and the quality seems durable. It is very warm.

Extremely prickly & too noisyI purchased this jacket 2 weeks ago. The style is great and pretty warm for my lifestyle ( I don't spend long periods of time outside). It's makes alot of noise when you move but I can live with that part. After wearing the jacket a couple times I started to feel sharp prickles throughout the jacket ( could only be worn with a thick sweater under.) My husband tried it on and said it felt like a hundred needles were poking him. I tried to return it but the store is only willing to give me a new one, which will take a week to arrive. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping the new one won't have the same problems!

Not well made: cold spots and sheddingI bought this coat about one month ago, and I submitted appositive review too early. The coat is now shedding small feathers constantly. I need a lint brush for my wool pants in particular. If you look at the lining, feathers come out of the stitching for the quilting. The coat also has multiple cold spots around the shoulders and arms, which get very cold when you are outside in temperatures below 30. I am very, very disappointed. This was an expensive purchase for me, and I consider it to be an absolute waste. I will need to buy a different coat for next winter.

Love this coat! It's been a while since I've purchased a winter coat (10 years!#?) which is saying a lot given that I live in the 'Windy City.' The very first coat I purchased as an adult was a Marmot. I loved that coat because wearing it was like I never left my bed and it lasted forever. Twenty (!) years later, I am happy to have found Marmot's Women's Chelsea Coat. It's warm, light and feminine-urban-chic profile makes me feel stylish while appropriately dressed (instead of looking like I'm headed out to chop down some trees, which would be fine if that was my context). Marmot for the win!
