We've taken the solid technical performance of our original PreCip Rain Jacket and updated it with cleaner lines and an all-over updated athletic fit for a fresh look that still executes outside in the PreCip Stretch Jacket. The dynamic combination of waterproof/breathable 2.5-layer Marmot NanoPro face fabric, the advanced durability of our microporous coating, and 100% seam taping will keep you dry without sacrificing movement on climbs and hikes. 3/4 side zipper vents pull double duty as sleek side pockets, while the two-way zipper prevents the jacket from bunching up while seated. Adjustable asymmetrical cuffs keep the rain out and the jacket looking modern.

strange designThis is a thin, lightweight jacket, effective at keeping you dry.
But the design of the jacket is strange. There are no pockets accessible externally. Instead, there are zippers along both sides that go all the way up which you can open up to separate the front of the jacket from the back. This can be done to vent, or you can open the zipper up partially to access internal pockets on the internal surface of the front flaps near the bottom. The pockets are mesh, and they are relatively small pockets.
If I had seen this jacket in person at a store, I probably would not have purchased it due to the odd design.

Fantastic jacket!I have lived on the road for the last 3 years with my wife and pups, and as a landscape and active lifestyle photographer, having the right gear is super important to me. Marmot has long been one of the trusted brands that I will go to for the highest performance clothing. This new PreCip is lightweight and durable, as I would expect from Marmot. I put it to the test in the Eastern Sierra in the shoulder season and it helped block the wind, keep the cold driving rain off of me, and protect my phone and extra gear in the internal, zipped pockets. Highly recommend.

Odd design choicesSome odd design decisions went into this jacket. Instead of pit zips it has "3/4 zips" which run all the way from the hem up to the bottom of the sleeve. It features snaps at the hem the allow you to completely open the jacket, converting it into a front and back flap that aren't connected at the bottom. Most reviewers don't mention this odd feature. I thought the "Stretch" may have referred to a maternity garment because of how much the jacket opened up. Furthermore it doesn't have regular pockets. The pockets are tucked inside the shell and you reach through the side zips to use them. This is an "Athletic Fit" and the Large Size was a perfect fit for me (I'm 180 cm / 87 kg) but ultimately I returned it.

Bad two way zipperThe two way zipper was not functional. I returned one for another and same issue. Zipper needs a reworking.

Excellent jacket, pointless zippers.Beautiful, excellent weight, nice fit, cannot understand why there are these two stupid zippers of the side instead of Pitt vents. I need pit vents. I don't need to air out my love handles. Also, they forgot to put in a loop to hang the jacket on a coat rack. I'm hanging it from the hood which is dumb.

nice but ultimately returnedi liked the look of the coat - but ultimately returned it for two reasons. 1) the hood and neck was too long, and 2) the coat did not have normal pockets. The zippers I thought were pockets were only for venting, and the one inner pocket was not easy to access.

Great JacketLove this new Precip Jacket, fabric seems bomber. Color is hi-viz perfect for being obvious on my road bike and will be great in the fall for hunting. Drys quick, with the right layer no perspiration build-up at all.
