Description
When the forecast isn't optimal but you're still ready to get out there, wear the lightweight, compressible Men's Minimalist Jacket. Perfect for your next rainy outdoor adventure, it features GORE-TEX® Paclite® technology, which offers a wind-blocking hydrophobic membrane and weight-minimizing comfort. 100% seam taping, a DWR (Durable Water-Repellent) finish, an attached adjustable hood, and a bonded flap over the center front zipper increase the weather protection of this rain jacket. Heat-releasing PitZips improve airflow and help regulate body temperature, while articulated elbows increase mobility on the trail. If the temps drop, zip it up over an insulated jacket for extra warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Bomber I have had this for 3 yrs now. I wear on-top of Mount Washington in the winter with 80+mph winds and -40° windchill. Doesn’t not disappoint. I also wear Snowboarding, Hiking, Mountain Biking, and camping. It goes everywhere. Pit zips are great pockets are great. Super lightweight and packable. The hood doesn’t completely cover a helmet but it gets the job done. This jacket is so good and so well priced all my buddies are getting them also. I pair it with the Marmot Featherless Hybrid Insulated jacket underneath for the cold days and it’s perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Key features eliminated They’ve changed the features that made this product excellent and the reason I purchased first time. Not only is the breast pocket no longer taped they moved it inexplicably from left to right. Apparently they didn’t get the memo 90% of humans are right hand. Then they removed the hood adjustment draw strings along with the waist adjustment draw strings. Why? Money, I’m sure! I would not have purchased had I known. There’s options available with better features from other manufacturers. This was a mistake IMO....considering returning it for refund. Why on earth would you eliminate a good thing?!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Rain Jacket! I was a bit hesitant to buy this jacket after reading some reviews that this jacket was leaky, wetted out quickly, etc. The jacket I received is definitely waterproof. I’ve worn it for about 6 months in Seattle weather without any special washes or treatments and I’ve never been left wet. I’ve taken this jacket on 8 hour hikes in the rain with my phone in the chest pocket and come out dry on the other side. It looks great too! I bought the red in a medium. I’m 5’10”, 160 lbs and it fits nicely. One of my favorite pieces of clothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Updated design << last year's version I want to like this jacket and I generally do; durability seems like it should be great, fit is good, nice that it's NOT a helmet compatible design. However the new placement of the chest pocket is just annoying. Biggest issue is that since it's a generous size (good), that means whatever you have in there falls to this awkwad spot between your armpit and lower pec. Also, now it's on the right side, and as much of the population is righty (sorry, lefties), it's less natural to access than when it was on the other side with the waterproof zipper instead of the new flap, and every time you use your right arm you feel the contents in that awkward spot. I also have the Knife Edge with the more tradiontal placement on the left side and not only is that placement more natural to access, this jacket holds the contents more over your pec and not down in the near-armpit area so the contents are far less distracting. So Marmot, please, PLEASE, put the pocket back where you had it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great rain shell I really like this jacket; it is reasonably priced, fits great, and is light and compact-folding enough to be easily carried in a pack or daypack without being a burden. My one complaint is Marmot's inexplicable decision to shift the breast pocket to the wearer's right side, making it awkward for those of us who are right-handed (i.e., about 75% of all males) to use it. What were they thinking? So, as much as I like this product, I'd probably replace it with something a bit more practical, like an Outdoor Research 'Foray' jacket, even if it costs a bit more. I would recommend this product to a friend only with that caveat, or if he were a lefty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Years of Technical Perfection Full disclosure, I work for Marmot but on the Equipment side of the business. The reason I am writing this review is that this piece truly stands out as the product the checks all the boxes of a high performing fabric, weight, fit, price, and design aesthetic. The waterproof rating on this is jacket is what you can expect on a soft shell ski jacket. Good thing too, since I hiked 10miles in the rain with it with no issues. The touch points are all well thought out and made to last. I think this is a piece that should live in the Marmot collection forever and happy to tell the people that worked on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and very functional jacket. I love how lightweight this jacket is. It does well keep warm and it is incredibly thin. The material does make a slight noise when wearing it probably because it is waterproof. This slight noise it make when rubbing on itself does not really bother me because I like the waterproof feature of my jacket. Everything as far as zippers and material all seem to be high quality and I do not foresee any trouble with the craftsmanship of this jacket. If you get hot wearing the jackets there are some zippers near the armpits that you could open up to get some air into the jacket and make you less hot. I am very happy with the jacket and the features it provides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! Bought 3 of these as they were 70% off for the discontinued versions in the store. I like the previous style as they have the embroidered name and logo on the back shoulder which looks much classier. The new version with the screen print labeling looks a little cheap (the store had both the new and previous styles to choose from). Other than the labeling change, the jackets looked about the same. Overall, the jacket fits great and is very comfortable with lots of room for layering and terrific range of motion. The appearance is very nice and doesn’t come across as a typical “plastic” looking rain jacket. The smooth lining makes it quick and easy to put on and take off when you’re rushing around.
