Green Mid from
Absolute BomberI have had this for 3 yrs now.
I wear on-top of Mount Washington in the winter with 80+mph winds and -40° windchill. Doesn’t not disappoint. I also wear Snowboarding, Hiking, Mountain Biking, and camping. It goes everywhere. Pit zips are great pockets are great. Super lightweight and packable. The hood doesn’t completely cover a helmet but it gets the job done. This jacket is so good and so well priced all my buddies are getting them also. I pair it with the Marmot Featherless Hybrid Insulated jacket underneath for the cold days and it’s perfect.

Years of Technical PerfectionFull disclosure, I work for Marmot but on the Equipment side of the business. The reason I am writing this review is that this piece truly stands out as the product the checks all the boxes of a high performing fabric, weight, fit, price, and design aesthetic. The waterproof rating on this is jacket is what you can expect on a soft shell ski jacket. Good thing too, since I hiked 10miles in the rain with it with no issues. The touch points are all well thought out and made to last. I think this is a piece that should live in the Marmot collection forever and happy to tell the people that worked on it.

Lightweight and very functional jacket.I love how lightweight this jacket is. It does well keep warm and it is incredibly thin. The material does make a slight noise when wearing it probably because it is waterproof. This slight noise it make when rubbing on itself does not really bother me because I like the waterproof feature of my jacket. Everything as far as zippers and material all seem to be high quality and I do not foresee any trouble with the craftsmanship of this jacket. If you get hot wearing the jackets there are some zippers near the armpits that you could open up to get some air into the jacket and make you less hot. I am very happy with the jacket and the features it provides.

Great jacket!Bought 3 of these as they were 70% off for the discontinued versions in the store. I like the previous style as they have the embroidered name and logo on the back shoulder which looks much classier. The new version with the screen print labeling looks a little cheap (the store had both the new and previous styles to choose from). Other than the labeling change, the jackets looked about the same.
Overall, the jacket fits great and is very comfortable with lots of room for layering and terrific range of motion. The appearance is very nice and doesn’t come across as a typical “plastic” looking rain jacket. The smooth lining makes it quick and easy to put on and take off when you’re rushing around.

Fantastic Rain Jacket!I was a bit hesitant to buy this jacket after reading some reviews that this jacket was leaky, wetted out quickly, etc. The jacket I received is definitely waterproof. I’ve worn it for about 6 months in Seattle weather without any special washes or treatments and I’ve never been left wet. I’ve taken this jacket on 8 hour hikes in the rain with my phone in the chest pocket and come out dry on the other side. It looks great too! I bought the red in a medium. I’m 5’10”, 160 lbs and it fits nicely. One of my favorite pieces of clothing.

Losing Waterproofing, looks great, does nothing.I bought the a minimalist jacket from a sporting goods store during one of their sales and absolutely love the color (green!) and fit of the jacket. If you have a long torso, you'll love the minimalist. The pit zips work absolutely fantastic as well and give the jacket breathability that it would otherwise need.
The unfortunate part is that as great as the jacket fits and as fantastic as it looks, it does absolutely nothing to shield water from actually soaking through to your clothing. This is the most expensive "waterproof" jacket I have ever purchased and I had very high expectations for the jacket. I walk a few blocks to work and do a lot of day hiking in the woods. I am not able to walk three blocks from my car to the parking lot (and back) without getting completely soaked. No problem, I thought, I will use call in and use Marmon's "Got you Covered" Warranty. The person I spoke with was incredibly nice. I mailed my jacket it and was retreated by the folks at Marmot. I received the jacket and it was washed with some kind of treatment but unfortunately absolutely nothing about the jacket has changed. I emailed the rep and sent in the jacket again. The jacket was retreated and ran through a pressurized test but when I received the jacket, nothing had changed. I could not return t he product to the store, I reached out to the MFG who tried to fix it, but ultimately I wanted a replacement for the same jacket but one that worked (used is even fine with me!). I spend a lot of money on a waterproof jacket that does not work. I haven't stopped buying Marmot products but I have completely stopped buying any of their waterproof jackets. It is possible that this jacket sat at the warehouse or store for a while and it was never treated properly and I'm familiar with waterproof renewal but this jacket was a bust from the get go.

Very VersatileI brought this for the PCT. It ended up being my primary outer layer. With a light fleece under this jacket it worked so well to cut out wind and hold in warmth. I even ditched the puffy for a good while in favour of this jacket and fleece combo. I used it through torrential rain, blizzards and extreme winds. The only downside to this jacket is the how bulky it is. It won't pack down as small as some other lighter options out there. But for the warmth and durability I think it is a great trade off.

Dry and LightThe Minimalist Jacket is perfect for keeping me dry. The fabric featuring gore-tex technology ensures that water doesn't get in while maintaing breathability at the same time. I think the black color fits me really well and it definitely seems like it is durable and would last a long time. The jacket also fits over other layers (e.g. sweaters, vests) if you need an extra layer of warmth - there are additional velcro strips found on the sleeves. With the Minimalist Jacket, I no longer have to worry about getting wet since I can efficiently store it in my backpack when not in use.
