Nice jacket, but not waterproof at allFirst of all, I like the jacket. I like how it fits and how it looks. And most of all, I love the color. I really wanted this color (the bad thing, though, is that it stains easily). So, even though I bought it for the outdoors, I didn't had high hopes when it comes to waterproofness, because I have a friend that has the Minimalist jacket, wich is even thicker than this one, and water enters really quick, from what I know. Anyway, brand new jacket, on a small rain, the first rain in her life, and water gets in pretty quick. So I would't call it a rain jacket. But I guess it's nice for winter days: for snow and for blocking the wind. Would I recommand it? Yes, but not for rain.

This jacket is a piece of garbageFirst, this jacket is a piece of junk! Yeah it’s a nice looking jacket with nice features like pit zips, gore-Tex and excellent packability, but it is TOTALLY USELESS in rain, which isn’t good for a rain jacket. The first time I took this out in the rain, I was DRENCHED after less than 15 mins in barely moderate rain conditions. I have had this jacket since June and I have barely used it, still one the pocket seams has already come unglued. Marmot is charging $225 for this jacket which is an absolute joke. The jacket isn’t waterproof, it’s poorly built and has an extremely poor value for money.

Must have missed somethingI am a huge marmot fan and own tons of their gear and this is the only piece that has ever failed. I was out in a rain storm, not a thunderstorm or anything crazy, and the jacket wet through in under 30 minutes. Luckily I was 45 minutes away from my car and when I got there it looked like I just got out of the shower. Completely soaked. For a jacket at this price point I expected a lot more waterproofing. I am a few weeks away from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus and now looking for a new rain jacket.

Keeps me DryThis jacket is so soft and thin, perfect for rainy days. The material is soft, smooth and comfortable, wearing it is easy compared to others. I have worn this many times now in pouring rain and I remain completely dry all while in comfort.
This jacket is super durable, strong, stylish, functions beautifully and has the added benefit of looking good while keeping you protected from the weather. This is a lighter jacket, it is not heavy at all, and is thin while protecting you. I have never worn a jacket quite like this one, the material is so soft and the fit is perfect, it is light and does exactly what the claims say. I would highly recommend this jacket.

Looks nice but leaks like a towelI bought this jacket for rainy weather, but was immediately disappointed when the first rain came and the jacket got soaked through in 10-15 minutes.
Complained to Marmot who tested the jacket and they claimed that it passed all their tests, so now I'm stuck with a $200+ jacket that is less weather resistant than my cheaper wind jacket.

Annoyingly LeakyBought the Knife Edge in red after much research and after attending Summer Mountain Leader Course. Seemed to have great features and was lightweight for more summer walking. This was less than a year ago. It has not been a very wet year in the UK , or maybe I have been lucky. I have worn this jacket no more than a dozen times , in England Scotland and in Wales , and in testing weather. The features of the Jacket were all I hoped for , light weight , good pockets if slightly stiff zips and a little condensation in there . However after 5 or 6 outings noticed wetness across shoulders. and down arms . The fabric was wetting out all over the jacket. A year on and it now has serious wet points all over it and is no longer a 'waterproof '. It may be a fault of the Goretex Paclite membrane , however I would not want anyone making my mistake and assuming that a jacket of this quality was going to last more than a few days! which is what it amounts to in terms of wear and tear .
Disappointed more than anything.

Lightweight and simple to roll up and packI love the knife edge jacket. To begin, this is a very light weight jacket. It is easily packed in a bag and takes up very little room. The military actually uses this same material for their wet weather jackets. It holds up extremely well in rainy conditions and is great protection from high winds. I would not use this for cold weather but when camping out this would be my go to jacket to save up space and keep my bag light weight. The pockets are a nice feature and are well placed. The jacket advertises the chest pocket as water proof and it has kept my belongings dry. Overall a fantastic jacket!

Great ProductThis jacket fit perfect. The jacket is light weight and it has a grey lining with pockets on the inside. The hood will be perfect for rain and the jacket itself will be perfect for the rain. I love that there are three pockets on each side of the jacket. This jacket will be perfect to travel with. I have long arms and yet it still came up to my hands/wrist, a lot of jackets come too short. Unfortunately my hips are too big for the jacket so it's a little tight on the bottom. Unwise it is perfect. The quality of this product lives up to the brand. I love Marmot products.I highly recommend this product.
