Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and Big! I was looking for a oversized family tent because I wanted the extra space. I looked at other 8 person tents but decided to go with Marmot Lair based on past experience with their gear (specifically tents) and also because of the two large vestibules it has. This this is bomb proof construction and was considerably less than any of the high end competitors tents. My only piece of advice is not to set this tent up on top of any other layers like a tarp. It rained and water accumulated between the tent floor and the tarp and basically had no where to go. Water did not go through the waterproof floor into tent, but lesson learned. This tent is BIG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works even without all the poles Still works even if your climbing team drops some off the poles down the mountain at night never to be found. FYI the poles will javelin into the snow and hide from you so keep a good watch on them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tent I just got done using this tent in the Alaska Range. We used it as a base camp tent. It provided us with plenty of room to cook, sort gear and a refuge from the wind. I would highly recommend this tent. It was way to set up, secures well and held up to any and all weather that Alaska threw at it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't use in high winds Bought for a fly in trip where we could have basecamp luxuries. Easy to set up, removable floor was great. Lots of space. However, not good in windy storms. At all. Tent was fully set up with all guy lines (came with tons of line, which was great). Had to build a wall as high as the tent to even start keeping it standing. Webbing used in tensions is too slick so it's impossible to keep the vestibules tight. Tried to invert itself several times during the storm. Thankful only bent poles rather than breaking them but I have zero trust in this product above treeline.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Base Camp Tent I bought this as a base camp for filming projects in the mountains. It has far exceeded my expectations. The tent is bomber in all conditions. It makes me wish that I had one my entire life.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not stand up to US weather! After months of research, we decided this tent was perfect for our New Mexico camping adventures. First use was perfect - plenty of room, sturdy and we were thrilled. Second time out we had rain/storms at 9,000 feet - the tent was flooded, puddles inside and of course immense disappointment. The marketing for this tent is incorrect. It cannot stand up to rain - parts of the tent are not waterproof. We do not recommend the Marmot Lair 8 unless it's perfect weather.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Removal floor sound great but...... I having trouble with removal floor due to the mat is not totally seal. Lots of insect and bug go from underneath of floor mat and go inside the tent. Still finding the way to handle that problems.
