Description
Bring the Mantis 3-Person Tent on short backpacking trips or to outdoor festivals when unfavorable weather is in the cards. It features one super-sized front door with a vestibule that easily converts to a roomy awning, so you can still see the sights, stay dry, and become the envy of any rain-soaked crowd. The seam-taped catenary-cut floor and full-coverage vented fly add to its weather protection. Color-coded "easy pitch" clips and poles make this camping tent easy to set up, while interior pockets organize all your gear. At night, tuck a headlamp into the lampshade pocket for ambient light and quickly locate your campsite thanks to its light-reflective points.

Product Instructions
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design improvements needed. For a single wall tent, it sheds water very well and the floor fits me at 6'6". However, with the front canopy zipped closed, the tent does not vent very well. As a vestibule, it is worthless since you would have to climb over gear to get out. The version I have, zips only from the bottom up, making it difficult to get out. These should be double sided zippers to exit the vestibule area. Finally, when the front panel is up to create a "porch", it angles back to the front of the tent and sheds water back instead of front. This is best used as a fair weather tent for campground camping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick Setup This is a great tent for one or two people. Quick setup once you figure it out. First, stake down the base of the tent. You will use 9 stakes for just the tent and the back vent. An additional 2 stakes if you use the awning attachment. After staking down the base of the tent you will insert the single pole and affix in the grommets which should already be staked into the ground. Super easy and this tent is water tight. But as the other reviewer mentioned, it is not for temps below 50 or so.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting to say the least I bought this tent a couple weeks ago for a hiking trip In Patagonia. It did work for the trip, however it IS NOT a 3-season tent. It got down to below 40 degrees and because of the tents ventilation and set up, we were frigid the whole night. It’s also a very tricky tent to set up and I would have appreciated videos on the website on how it’s set up!! It is a really cool tent however, and very very useful for the spring or summer. I would not recommend this tent to someone looking to back pack with it in cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Roomy and versatile Used this on a cold, wet camping trip with two people and a dog. Plenty of room. Stayed warm and dry despite heavy rains and temperatures below freezing. An uncommon design adaptable to many configurations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Affordable, quality tent for car camping/festivals The Mantis is a well made tent, but not without some drawbacks. One the plus side, it is roomy, with typical Marmot quality. I have not used it in the rain, but the materials should hold up well for a single wall design. The canopy is a nice idea, but has to come down to close the vestibule. The biggest downside is that it is not a freestanding design. The ventilation is not as good as some of the double vestibule dome designs, but fine for spring/fall camping. The set up is a bit of a head-scratcher initially, but not too bad. This is a good tent for car camping or festivals, but not so great for backcountry adventures. I have 3 Tungsten tents in various sizes that I prefer. When people ask for my advise on a tent purchase, I always recommend they consider Marmot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed. When you understand the pros and cons of a single wall tent and keep that in mind, this tent is great. Pros: Very simple to set up especially for what is realistically a 4 person tent. No rain fly to mess with. Held up great in some very heavy sustained downpours. Cons: It is a single wall tent so naturally the ventilation might not be that of a conventional tent with rain fly. I don't camp in colder weather so haven't really dealt with the supposed condensation issues relating to that. Mesh seems to be developing small runs in it and could be of better quality. Would prefer a dual pole some design in very serious winds. But again, everything in life is a tradeoff and for me I wanted a single wall easy to set up tent that wasn't too big or small and I would buy this again. Exactly what I was looking for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Marmot Mantis tent Normally, I am a big fan of Marmot products. And while I appreciate the quality of the Mantis tent, it is a bit of a challenge to set up, break down and roll away for storage. Additionally, not being able to pick up and shake out (dirt and debris) like a traditional dome style tent presents a negative. However, the unique of the design is a bright spot. My kids enjoyed the "balcony" and easy access to their sleeping quarters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid tent A breeze to set up (stake it first) and very functional. Not really 3 seasons however. Temps below 50 would make for a cold night in this tent. Great rain protection, and the high ceiling makes for easy entry/exit. Nice construction, and a really solid (single) HD 7000 series aluminum pole. The vestibule is enormous.
