Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value The Marmot Tungsten is a fine tent: well designed and very roomy. It's great at keeping me dry in heavy rain, and the included footprint is a nice touch. Another review commented that it weighs about 1.5 lbs. more than competitive tents. This is because it's made from polyester instead of nylon: polyester is a heavier material. It's also why Marmot can offer a quality tent at this price point, because polyester is less expensive. While there is a slightly weight penalty, polyester has other advantages over nylon. Principally: it doesn't stretch out nearly as much when it gets wets. A polyester rainfly is a wonderful thing--it doesn't sag or need to be tightened after a rain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Affordable Tent I bought this tent a year ago and used it all summer for work, backpacking above 10,000ft in the Sierra Nevada (5 days per week from July - September). It's spacious, durable, and warm. It held up well in wind storms, but during prolonged heavy rain and hail (2+ hours), the fly seeped water where the tent poles rested against it. It's definitely not enough to get the inside wet, only a couple drops make it in, and most slide down on the outside of the mesh. It's also on the heavy side, but very much worth the weight for the price. Overall I'm happy with the tent, and a HUGE fan of Marmot products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Effective I bought this for a cross country road trip and was very pleased with how simple it was to set up and take down. It is plenty spacious enough for two large people and with the rain fly on there is extra dry space outside of the zipper doors to set any gear you want to keep dry. The rain fly also has ventilation flaps as well as tie outs in case of high winds. I've used it backpacking as well and when the weight is split between two people it is a good option for comfortable camping in the backcountry. For the price, I would recommend this to anyone looking to pick up a quality tent without breaking the bank.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Roomy but pole broke! I bought this a year ago but only used it twice before recently using it on a month long bicycle trip in Europe. About 10 nights of camping into the trip the brow pole broke. The design requires the pole to be quite taut with a strong bend/flex and the pole could not withstand it. I had to use a pole sleeve for the rest of the trip. I have been tenting regularly for over 30 years and have never had a pole shear. Otherwise the tent is nice; my one frustration is that it could also breathe a little better, but it's not bad. Roomy, big vestibules, generally easy set up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, lightweight tent for a good price We purchased this tent prior a 3 night backpacking trip in the Upper Peninsula. Rain and winds blew in from Lake Superior for several hours overnight and the rain fly kept us nice and dry. We felt comfortable in a range of temperatures from lower 40's to low 70's, I imagine it would perform well in many conditions. It was well-ventilated and the design of the fly/door make entry/egress easy. The tent was very easy to set up and fairly lightweight. This is by no means an ultralight tent and when packed away the dimensions may make it difficult to store in some backpacks. Very happy overall with this purchase, would happily recommend it to friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Home I recently finished a nine month bicycle tour including Vietnam for three months and Europe for six months. This tent performed absolutely flawlessly in jungle torrential rains and European five day storms. Highwinds did not bother this one bit. A great tent all the way around. The only problem I had was the brow pole split. While looking at the crack I noticed The Metal thickness at the female and the pole junction was very thin. I would have preferred a much thicker brow polel. Metal thickness at the female end of the pole junction was very thin. I would have preferred a much thicker brow pole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, reliable tent I used this for a cross country motorcycle trip. Easy to set up, even in the dark. Roomy and most of all very reliable in inclement weather. Found myself in a helluva storm. The ground flooded beneath me even though I dug out. Felt like I was on a waterbed. This tent kept me and my gear dry as a bone. Absolutely pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tent Ever I'm obsessed with this tent. Love love love it!! I took this tent out in the Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado for it's first trip and it held up really well when there were 50 mph gusts of wind. It's durable, lightweight, easy to set up and take down, and packs up really nicely. The reflectors on the tent make it easy to see at night when a light shines on it and the rain fly expands the space when it's set up. I recommend to anyone I know!
