The vented full fabric canopy and two half-mesh zippered D doors lock out plunging temps, while additional guy outs secure your campsite when wind gusts pick up. Keep rain from sneaking in with its seam-taped, catenary-cut floor and full-coverage vented fly. Zone pre-bend construction creates vertical walls for plenty of sleeping space and headroom for stretching out. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like what I see so far… I received this request for a review from Marmot before actually using the tent in the field, but did set it up in my backyard and will give you my first impressions. The quality of the materials used and fabrication of the canopy and fly was quite good. A dozen orange hexagonal aluminum shepherds hook tent stakes came with the tent, which is sufficient to secure the canopy and fly, but not the six additional guy out loops. I found six similar orange tent stakes on Amazon, Kelty Nobendium II six-pack, that work just fine for this purpose and match the originals. The guy lines and plastic adjustment tabs that came with the tent were of good quality, however the tent storage bag was a little large and floppy for me, so I replaced it with a 7x24 inch Equinox Bilby rip-stop nylon stuff sack that fits it like a glove. The tent set-up is quite simple and pre-bent poles nice for the extra space. These pre-bent poles are attached together at the center/top with a clear plastic coupler that I hope will prove more durable than it looks. Time will tell. The short brow or ridge pole that goes over these poles for the tent width, also seems a bit under-designed for the application, but again, time will tell. I only say that because after taking down the tent, this short brow pole still had a slight arc in it, where is was perfectly straight before. The interior of the tent is what I expected for a two person tent and vestibule areas quite sufficient. Marmot was a little stingy on storage areas inside, but you do have a couple options. This is a solid canopy tent with mesh windows in the doors and one by your head, so I’m anxious to see what the air circulation is like in the summer. There is one ceiling vent, without mesh, which I believe is designed to reduce condensation more than increase airflow. Overall I’m very pleased with what I see and have made a few tweaks as I do with all my gear. I usually tent camp between 60 and 90 days a year, so I may be a little more particular than some, and that’s cool. Once I get a few weeks of camping under my belt with the Fortress, I’ll be able to provide a more informative account of this shelter’s livability and performance in various weather conditions. Until then, all I can say for sure is that I’m encouraged by what I see so far…

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality product with a simple set up I've owned this tent for a year now and have used it many times. It has held up beautifully despite being put through some nasty storms. I am able to easily set it up and break it down all on my own. It is lightweight and easy to pack. Would highly recommend this tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, versatile tent, ideal for the NE US Purchased in 2020, mainly because it offered full double-wall construction at a reasonable price. We used on multi-day hikes in the Adirondacks and on a 4-week trek on the Long Trail thorough Vermont's Green Mountains. Its a pound or so heavier than the ultra-lights, but is very compact and the strong fabric and double-wall helped us ride out many cold, wet stormy nights in comfort. We also used for mid-summer kayak camping and used the zip-down door panels and clever openings for ventilation. This year we used without the fly on a weekend trek on the AT in hot, balmy weather (90's) and liked how the door panels could be used to adjust ventilation and privacy. Recently purchased two more of these tents as gifts for my sons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent I go this tent for all year round use, esp for sea kayaking where weather can be cold, rainy and windy, or very hot. I am very pleased with it so far. The rain proofing and ventilation are both excellent, and it is very easy to set up. I don't know why they don't have screen and a second zipper on the roof window. It would be worth a few dollars more and would bump it up to 5 stars! I added this feature myself so I can leave the roof vent open, and not get bugs in. I can also unzip this screen so I can open or close the vent in the fly. Now my tent is a 5 star!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to set up, and lots of room. I purchased this tent for bikepacking and it's a little heavier and bulkier that I would like but it's a very good tent, and I'll still use it for bikepacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Clark Kent of tents, Marmot Fortress 2P Should be known as the 3 plus 1. The tent that does it all, through the ideal of adding zip outs to 2 doors, when closed turns into the perfect 4 season tent. With the zippers open it has the ventilation needed for the warmest day. And the zip out at the end for the head of your sleeping bag, it's genius. The perfect do it all tent, the size is seemingly huge.
