Q. What types of outdoor or adventure story should contest applicants apply with?

A. Applicants should apply with one portfolio defining outdoor focused project. The project should showcase the human spirit through the joy and creativity of outdoor sports. Applicants need to have significant experience in their prospective sport. Completing the project safely is of the upmost importance.


Q. Are there different applications for the two grants?

A. No, there is just one application. The grants will be awarded based on predetermined judging criteria which reflect the applicant’s project submission and associated needs.


Q. What’s the difference between the two grants?

A. Simply put, the winner of thePeak Elevation Grant contest receives a five-month lease of a 2021 Ford BroncoSport, while the Summit Elevation Grant contest winner does not receive a vehicle lease.


Q. Who can enter the grant contest?

A. Any member of the Black, Indigenous and People of Color community. Applicants must be 18 years of age by July 15th, 2021, live in the US, D.C. or Puerto Rico, and be a legal resident of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia). 


Q. What criteria will be used to determine the grant winners?

A. Winners will be chosen based on predetermined judging criteria that includes a combination of talent, interest, motivation, and need. An applicant’s existing portfolio will be a consideration in awarding grants, but not the only one. We encourage you to apply even if you feel your portfolio is not as polished or robust as you’d like. We are looking to those who show dedication and interest in their sport and project


Q. If applicants have more than one project idea can they apply more than once?

A. No, applicants may only apply once with one project idea. So be sure to apply with your favorite project idea that can be completed within the five-month window.


Q. What can grant contest winners use the cash stipend for?

A.We expect the cash portion of the grant prize to be used for the expenses incurred while producing the winner’s creative project.


Q. When will the grant contest winners be chosen?

A.Winners will be chosen and contacted on or before July 20th 2021.


Q. When does the five-month grant window start and finish?

A. Grant contest winners will officially kick off their projects on September 1st, 2021. The grant window will close on January 31st, 2022, with a final presentation expected on or around February 15, 2022.


Q. Do grant contest winners own the rights to their Elevation Grant project?

A. Yes, however, as a condition to participation, each winner will grant to Marmot and the supporting grant sponsors limited rights to share the grant winner’s content from the time of the project is submitted through January 31st, 2023.


Q. Will the grant winner pay for gas and insurance on the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport during the five-month lease?

A. The grant winner will be responsible for gas and any associated maintenance or repairs during the lease period.The grant winner will not be responsible for the vehicle’s insurance.Details to be provided prior to entering into the lease.
